The Distinctive Uganda Coffee

The robusta coffee beans grow wild in the Uganada’s rainforests as indigenous species. Arabica beans however are grown in three regions only, specifically. Here’s to understanding them in detail:

  1. Rwenzori Mountains: Situated in the southwest region, Rwenzori coffee is grown at an elevation of 1,500 to 2,300 meters above sea level. Hence for such unique coffee, Ecotact bags are the best to keep their flavor intact. Its eco-friendly bags can keep the freshness maintained for a longer time.

  1. Mount Elgon: It is situated on the eastern border.. It is also known as the oldest volcano in East Africa. The coffee estates are situated above its slopes and are covered by woods. They are supplied with essential moisture by a steep water gully. The harvest season begins in July and lasts until February at higher elevations and from June to December at lower altitudes.

  1. West Nile: It is in northwest Uganda. The coffee-growing areas are around 1,300 to 1,600 m above sea level. In West Nile, the coffees are typically washed and processed. Hence, hermetically sealed bags are essential to later package and store them.
